We are absolutely delighted to have been shortlisted in this years Knowsley Education Awards in the "School of the Year Secondary Award" category and are proud one of our pupils has also been shortlisted in the "Outstanding Achievement Special Award" category.

TES SCHOOLS AWARDS 2022

We were delighted to be shortlisted for the prestigious national Tes Schools Awards this year, in the categories of "Pupil Mental Health Initiative of the Year", "Subject Lead of the Year (Specialist Provision)" (Mrs V Rhead - English) and "Headteacher of the Year". 

INTERNATIONAL MENTAL HEALTH PROJECT 2022

As part of the BETT festival Finch Woods Academy formed links with Lanna International School in Thailand, launching a joint project involving Key Stage 3 pupils exchanging letters with their peers at Lanna School. They discussed strategies that pupils in both settings use to relax and promote mental health and wellbeing in their day to day lives.

This was an amazing experience for Finch Woods pupils to interact with mainstream pupils from an International School which comprises of pupils from 19 different religions and over 30 nationalities.

Pupil feedback shows the impact of this project has been confidence in writing, improved wellbeing and enjoyment of learning as well as developed understanding of how other young people from across the globe deal with mental health.
